WHO IS JURADO?
Captain Enrique L. Jurado (July 15, 1911 – October 14, 1944) served as an officer in the Philippine Army – Offshore Patrol during World War II. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class Of 1934, he returned to the Philippines to teach at the Philippine Military Academy. Later joining the
Army Coastal Defense force, the Offshore Patrol (OSP), he instructed its first class of graduates. Jurado commanded the OSP before the Pearl Harbor attack on December 4, 1941. Leading his squadron in the Bataan defense campaign, he orchestrated an escape from the Japanese, safeguarding his flagship to Batangas. After recovery, he joined the guerrillas in Panay. Jurado’s life ended tragically as he sought to unify guerrilla factions in Mindoro.
In his honor, the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City, Philippines, named their gymnasium “Jurado Hall” on May 15, 1953. Other tribute includes the Philippine Army’s Fort Bonifacio gymnasium, also named Jurado Hall.

WHAT IS JURADO CUP?
Within the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) campus in Baguio City, Philippines, , the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines (CCAFP) engage in sports and Games during intramurals. They showcase their physical prowess while representing their various Company Units for the ultimate price, the JURADO CUP, to be awarded to the Over-All Champion. A week of sports competition offers cadets a chance to enjoy light moments of fun and camaraderie. This is also the time for all cadets to express themselves through sports, be competitive and not worry about class boundaries.
The PMA Jurado Cup International in the USA is a biennial event hosted by various PMA Chapters across States and Cities. It aims to foster camaraderie among US and Canada based former PMA cadets (family and guests) through competitive sports and social activities. This event provides a time for fellowship and enjoyment, spanning a 3-day weekend in Summer or Autumn. Teams compete in various games, with social activities like the hop and boodle fight adding to the experience. It also become a ‘HOMECOMING’ event for the PMA community outside of the Philippines.
